How the NRL Ladder Works

Competition points and byes

A win normally earns two points, a draw one and a bye two. Byes do not increase games played. Competition points are different from the points scored during a match.

For, against and points difference

PF is points scored, PA is points conceded, and PD is PF minus PA. A positive difference means a team has scored more than it has conceded. Teams level on competition points are separated using the NRL tie-break rules; this table preserves the official order.

Top eight, minor premiers and the Grand Final

The final regular-season top eight progress to the finals. First place earns the minor premiership, while the Grand Final decides the premiership. See how the finals format works.

NRL Ladder FAQs

Which season is the latest NRL ladder?

This page shows 2026, Round 27, the latest season and round with official standings available here. A new draw does not automatically mean a new ladder is available.

How are NRL competition points awarded?

Teams normally receive two competition points for a win, one for a draw and two for a bye. A loss earns no points. A bye is a round off and is not counted as a game played. Official totals shown here also reflect any competition adjustments.

How are teams separated when points are equal?

Points difference is points scored minus points conceded. It is used to separate teams level on competition points; further tie-breaks can apply if the difference is also equal. This table follows the official NRL order rather than recalculating positions.

What do the top-four and top-eight lines mean?

They mark the positions used to seed the NRL finals. During the regular season, sitting in the top eight does not by itself mean a team has secured a finals place. The final regular-season ladder determines the finals qualifiers.

Does first place mean a team won the premiership?

No. The team that finishes first in the regular season is the minor premier. The premiership is decided in the Grand Final. Finals results do not change the final regular-season ladder.

What does Last 5 include?

Up to five regular-season games with confirmed scores through the displayed round. W means win, D draw and L loss, with the newest result on the right. Byes, finals and games without confirmed scores are excluded. Select a letter to open that match.

How does the next-game column work?

It shows the next confirmed future kick-off in the seasons available here, excluding postponed and cancelled games. A fixture in the following season is labelled with its year. No announced fixture means no future game is currently listed here.
